Course Outcome(s)

On the completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Analyse an appropriate process model for a given project
  • Discover the principles at various phases of software development
  • Translate a specification into a design and identify the components to build the architecture for a given problem, all using an appropriate software engineering methodology
  • Understand and Apply the concept of UML
  • Learn the design of software with performing of their user interface
  • Define different level of planning with the use of different software models regarding their risk levels
  • Analyse a problem and identify, formulate and use the appropriate testing methods for obtaining its solution
  • Apply various software maintenance techniques to optimize software usage
Pre-requisite course/skill(s)
  • Basic understanding of the software development process
Introduction to Subject

Information technology and software engineering share techniques, methods, tools, and processes. Software engineering uses project management to plan, monitor, and control projects for software lifecycle activities. Software engineering is engineering and computer science oriented, whereas information technology is project management and technology oriented.
